It has been a long time working with Nokia and I only realized it now when I took a real break from work after long time and stayed home.

Not sure why my wife keeps complaining that she must stay at home all the time, but for me it wasn’t a bad feeling and I really enjoyed being at home.

And if you think its unlike me – I also do play soccer every week and watch movies (just a clarification via this blog in case my day job style makes you believe that I don’t)

Being away from the office & taking a real long break gave me an opportunity to ponder a bit on life, philosophy & more…

I thought to share with you my learning philosophy and let’s unravel this secret together.

Life is a combination of learnings, and we get various opportunities to learn every day. We often puzzle to pick what is in our surroundings for us for adopt, and what to let go only. My biggest inspirations and source of learning has been talking to people.

But here is a trick – you must make a choice and pick the right people. To me these are the ones who give positive energy, the ones at the peak of their motivation and sometimes even those in the middle of nowhere, but thrilled and excited about their life. They all have a lot to teach you if you only wish to learn. A true learning success is to fully embrace what you have discovered and then practice.

Every little thing around us has a feel of hidden happiness and could become source of inspiration.

I always try to find even a few minutes to think, ponder whom I used to be few years back when I finished my school. This helps me to keep my feet firmly on the ground, while ready to go after any challenge.

Few mental habits are very good in my opinion, and I am sure all of us have heard it in some shape or form, being advised by elders, colleagues, family…

I believe it’s worth to focus & pay more attention to them – at the end they are not a rocket science.

For me personally those statements are:

  • It’s never too late to learn
  • Go back to the white board and re-think
  • We often listen to respond and not to understand – watch out for this
  • Apply what you learn
  • Adopt what inspires you

No matter where you stand today in your professional career, these ‘back to basics’ reminders always work. If you are on a crossroads – they can give you a quick “energy shot” helping you to come back on track and find solutions.

I remember sometimes being stuck in complex equation and other person who knew nothing about that situation helped me get breakthrough simply with quick reminder of “back to basics”.

We tend to forget in our complex daily life.

The key message I wanted to make in my musings is to keep your life simple and never be afraid to adopt ‘back to basics’ mindset.

Sometimes you must simplify, retreat to reposition yourself for growth. It can be applied to people or organizations.

Even huge corporations are doing the same – Nokia has huge transformation office & the biggest R&D operation work on these principles.

And although an ideal way is to make it as we go – there is no harm to take a break and reset your destination and priorities.

On a final personal note – my plans are always built on my current learnings; I always try to keep them realistic and my strategy well grounded.

There is a lot to learn, and I always look forward to meeting people & learn even more from them!

Let’s talk and progress together!
